About Harry

Harry is a resident of Salisbury, NC, where he lives with Catherine, his wife of 21 years, and their two daughters, Alexandra and Morgan. Prior to his election to the State House, Harry was employed as a Human Resource Specialist for Tar Heel Capital Corporation, one of the largest Wendy’s franchises in the brand and the largest in the Carolinas. In this role he experienced firsthand the effects of the economy and the policies coming out of Raleigh that impact the residents of our district. He has also owned or managed several small businesses and has a clear understanding of the barriers to success our small business owners face.

Harry was born 61 years ago in the small Ohio town of East Liverpool, dairy farm country. His early years on farms taught him the value and rewards of hard, honest work. Harry’s maternal grandparents immigrated to the United States from Palermo, Italy, to pursue the opportunity of a better life in America. Growing up hearing the stories of the hard work and eventual success of his immigrant grandparents, Harry adopted the strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit of his family. He has a strong passion for the belief that in the United States, there should be equal opportunity to succeed for anyone willing to work hard and contribute to society.  In 1969, Harry married Beverly Rizer and became the proud father of their first son, Jason.

Beginning his studies at Kent State University in January of 1969, Harry completed the 4 year program in 3 years with a major in Political Science and a minor in History. During these years, he worked a midnight shift at a steel foundry near Pittsburgh, Pa. to pay 100% of his college expenses and provide for his growing family. Often, he also worked part-time jobs in grocery stores and on the farms, a testimony to his strong work ethic. Harry and Beverly had 4 children during their 20 year marriage; Jason Warren, a disabled Special Ops veteran of Desert Storm;  Adam Warren,  Emily Lynne Howard; and Joshua James Warren. Harry has eight grandchildren.

Harry is an active member of First United Methodist Church, where his family volunteers at Rowan Helping Ministries and Meals On Wheels. He was a Republican Precinct Chair, the 12th District Delegate to the NC County Chairman's Association, a Delegate to the NCGOP Executive Committee and served on the Rowan Republicans Youth and Minority Outreach Committee. Harry is a member of the NRA and enjoys time with his family traveling, swimming, skiing, bowling and an occasional game of golf.
